PH 5-4½ Pendant, white

The four-shade PH lamp was designed to increase the amount of light emitted horizontally to provide greater illumination of walls and shelves than was possible with standard three-shade lamps. It was removed from Louis Poulsen's standard range in the 1940s, but was redesigned in 1979 by two Danish architects - Sophus Frandsen and Ebbe Christensen - for the Charlottenborg exhibition building in Copenhagen, albeit in a larger size: PH 6½/6. The lamp's trumpet-shaped top shade ensures illumination of the area above the three shades, which primarily direct the light downwards. A bottom bowl and a glare ring prevent glare from all angles. The light is strongest under the luminaire. The shades are matte white lacquered, which ensures a high level of lighting comfort.
