Hans J. Wegner showed an early interest in the rocking chair as a furniture type, and the J16 was one of the first chairs he ever put into production - as early as 1944. After a process of making the chair easier to produce, production could begin. The chair is made of solid wood with a hand-woven seat in paper yarn.
